Because the same symptom has cheap causes and expensive causes, and we cannot tell them apart without opening the machine. A dishwasher that will not drain can be a blocked filter or a failed pump. Quoting blind means one of those two numbers is wrong.
We can tell you what the visit costs, which is $85, and we can tell you whether we work on your brand. Those are facts we know before we drive. The repair price is not one of them.
Companies that quote a repair on the phone are doing one of two things. They are naming a low number to win the call and revising it in your kitchen, or they are naming a high number that covers the worst case. Neither is honest, and both put you in a bad position once the technician is already standing there.
What we do instead: the technician diagnoses at the house, then tells you the cost before anyone picks up a tool. You can say no. If you say no, you have paid $85 and you know exactly what is wrong with your appliance, which is worth something on its own.
